College World Series--University of Arizona vs. FSU

When the University of Arizona made it to the College World Series, my dad really wanted to go. So we went with him to see the Wildcats play against Florida State University.

Sydney was so excited to go to the game...and even more excited to get picked up early from school and have her name called over the p.a. system at school.

After about 5 innings, I had to sit in the shade. So we found some empty seats and enjoyed the rest of the game

Some guy gave her that balloon...totally made her day.

Taste of Omaha

Back when we were living in Provo, Charles and I went to a Taste of Provo and got to sample some food from several local restaurants. When we saw that there would be a Taste of Omaha, we thought we would give it a try. We liked the set up of Provo's better (buy a ticket to get in, get to taste everything there) than Omaha's (get in free, buy tickets to use to "pay" for sample) but it was fun to go and be out. It rained for the first hour or so we were there, but it cleared up and we had a great time tasting food and enjoying music and dancing.

There were some fire dancers which were fun to watch. The most amusing part was the family standing next to us with the mom telling the kids how this was not cool and that they shouldn't even THINK of trying this at home.

Berry Picking

Picture19352
Sydney and I went and picked strawberries for a summer outing.  I totally forgot how much bending you have to do, so after about an hour, I was spent. But it was a lot of fun, especially to have some time with just Sydney. We almost filled our bucket and the berries were really nice and sweet. They'll be good in shortcake on Sunday.

Our bucket almost full. Sydney had to get shots the day before and got to pick out a prize for being pretty good about it. She chose a "Brave" crown and jewelry set...that Charles was thrilled about, since the same princess also shoots a bow and he is all about princesses and girls that shoot anything.

Jerusalem Dinner

For Easter this year, Charles and I wanted to focus a lot more on the life of Christ and what we thinks is the most important part of Easter. So, we took some time to talk about the things that happened in the last week of Christ's life leading up to his Crucifixion and Resurrection.  One of the things we did was have a Jerusalem dinner.  It's not completely authentic (some of us were having a hard time eating much of anything normal) and we didn't focus much on the passover this time, but it was fun to eat on the floor and talk about what Christ might have eaten and discuss the Last Supper and introduce Sydney to some new foods.

Nebraska High School Basketball Tournament.

Picture19166

Sadly, this is the best picture I have, but we went to the Nebraska High School Basketball Tournament with one of the Commissioners from Charles' work. Sydney had a great time watching and cheering for the game...too bad the team she was cheering for was on the other side of the stadium.  I had hoped that my old high school would be playing when we went, but it was still fun to go and remember ten years ago when I was in high school and would go to the tournament with the pep band.

Disney Hollywood Studios and Our Special Pooh Bear

Today we went to Disney Hollywood Studios first thing in the morning. Somehow, I ended up only taking one picture the whole time we were there...I blame it on exhaustion.

See, we were there.

Just before lunchtime, we went back to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with Winnie-ther-Pooh/Chelsea! It took a while and we missed her the first time, but it was so neat to see Chelsea doing her job. And it will be fun to explain it to Sydney one day when she is older.

Meeting the Princesses

Halfway through the day, I went to go pick up fast passes to meet Mickey and the Disney Princesses and saw the best possible thing ever...
