Almost Famous

Know what that is?

And this picture is of a pair that we found at Pioneers Park Nature Center today.

Apparently this is a BIG DEAL.

See, their native range is mostly in Central and South America and a little bit of the USA. And this was the first one ever seen at Pioneers Park. So when we came into the Prairie Building and asked for a field guide to look up what kind of duck it was, they got pretty excited to find out it was so rare. So, they called the local Audubon Society, who called us to ask for pictures...and then confirmed that they are indeed Black-bellied Whistling-ducks and that with our permission, they would post a blurb about it in their newsletter.

So, you see, we're almost famous.
